The seminar on mitigation of climate change and environmental sustainability with the theme, “The Role of Development Banks in both dimensions will be held on November 18-19 in La Fontana Hotel, Bogota, Colombia. The event is co-organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Colombian Foreign Trade Bank (Bancóldex), and the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE).
The Seminar will provide a perspective on the risks and opportunities posed by climate change, as well as the financial challenge of combating this global threat.
The topics of the Seminar include: (i) sharing experiences on carbon markets and on funding for emission reduction projects, (ii) discussing the role of development banks in financing carbon mitigation and the challenges of “scaling up” funding, (iii) analyzing global trends and best practices within the framework of environmental and social management systems in the financial sector, (iv) communicating the experiences of national development banks and commercial banks in risk mitigation and identification of opportunities, and finally (v) exploring initiatives for the development of standards of corporate environmental and social governance in financial systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
